HOPE Bindura

Introduction

Hope project was officially opened on the 5th of December 1998 by Doctor Lincoln. S. Chirimari who was the Provincial Medical Director for Mashonaland Central Province. The project is involved in the community mobilization for the purpose of educating and training on HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care voluntary counseling and testing ( V.C.T )post test services through psycho-social and nutritional counseling. The outreach program is seen reaching out to the community with Home based care ( H.B.C) program, including the aspect of palliative care component.

Location

It is situated in Bindura District in Bindura town in Mashonaland Central Province.The project is about  87 km from Harare.

Project Description

Hope is a program for AIDS working with clinics, social centre and open clubs where it operates for the sake of the sick, their families, friends and all who have not been caught by the consequences of this disease. With the concentration of efforts from all spheres of the society Hope works to help, support, prolong life, assist and encourage all involved parties, the infected and affected people. Hope provides voluntary counseling and testing in Bindura  and  Rushinga Districts, post test services (new life program) which covers the whole of Mashonaland Central Province. Other programs involve youth, orphans and vulnerable children and H.B.C programs in Bindura and Shamva. The project has started training the different target groups in income generating activities.
