Farmers Club Gutu
“Food for better living”
Farmers club Gutu was established in 2011 and successfully implemented the Gutu Garden and water project in Wards 8, 9 and 37 of Gutu. In 2012 the project will be running a food intervention programme called “Food for better living” in Gutu and Mwenezi districts of Masvingo Province.
Reason for intervention
The Masvingo Province in particular has recently recorded less than 75 percent of their long-term average rainfall (the lowest in the nation), which has negatively impacted harvests and food security.
The project
In an effort to alleviate food insecurity in Masvingo Province, the project will distribute a total of 5,477,477 servings of Harvest Lentil Pro dehydrated soup with vegetable protein to 10,032 beneficiaries between February 2012 and July 2012.
The targeted beneficiaries will be identified through the cooperation between DAPP’s Child Aid and Farmers’ Clubs programs.
